Overview of Conflict Minerals
Referring to minerals such as tin, tantalum, tungsten and gold
produced in countries where conflicts are occurring,
such as the Democratic Republic of Congo or its neighboring countries.
Money generated by conflict minerals has been funneled into armed forces in the country, killing its own people, as well as damaging human rights such as child and forced labor and abuse of women in the mining process.

Amid mounting international concern, in 2010, the U.S. Congress enacted a Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act that required reporting of the use of conflict minerals, and pursuant to Article 1502 above, companies listed on the U.S. stock market to investigate whether and where they were used, conduct due diligence on supply chains and report the results to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
