"Namdo Mold Corporation has been selected for 'World Class 300,' a project to foster Korean-style Hidden Champion organized by the Small and Medium Business Administration," the Gwangju Metropolitan City government said Tuesday.
The achievement is a result of Gwangju's selection of six global small and medium-sized companies on May 23 as a result of its systematic growth of local businesses by fostering luxury steel companies, which have been pursued by the city as a key campaign pledge project for the sixth term of the civil election.
The "World Class 300" incubation project is to be intensively supported by the government by selecting small and medium-sized companies with the will and potential for growth in order to nurture 300 global companies by 2017.
Requirements for selection are small and medium businesses that have 40 billion won to 1 trillion won in sales, 20 percent or more in direct and indirect exports, 2 percent or more in average R&D investment over three years, or 15 percent in average sales growth over five years.
Since its establishment in 1993, Namdo Mold Corporation has been equipped with world-class technology and business scale through constant efforts and innovation.
In particular, the company has the No. 1 domestic and No. 1 technology in the world by developing its own system mold called "Green Mold" and obtaining patents in Korea and the world.
In recognition of its technological prowess by supplying built-in parts to Chrysler and Teszler, the company has won many awards including the Industry Minister Award and the $30 million Export Tower.
For selected companies, R&D will provide up to 7.5 billion won (with an annual limit of 1.5 billion won) for up to five years. In particular, it will be required to establish a patent strategy for development technology, which will provide 80 million won per project.
In addition, the government will provide overseas marketing programs within 500 million won (approximately 100 million won per year) for up to five years.
"We will do our best to help Gwangju-based luxury steel companies, which have excellent technological prowess and a high potential for growth in the future," said Lee Jong-hwan, head of the city's job economy bureau. |
